Are We Facing An Economic Disaster?

Bottom Line: I strongly believe that central bankers’ actions have put the global economy today in a very dangerous position.

Interest rates are too low. As a result, we’re seeing a replay of the mid-2000s – when interest rates were too low given economic growth, and as a result, the bubble in US subprime property was inflated. And when it blew up, it triggered the global financial crisis.

I am afraid a similar thing is happening today. Even though the US economy is growing, interest rates are lower than they’ve ever been. It’s hard to argue that current conditions justify that level of emergency intervention.

For Russia oil equals money, what if the money dries up before the oil does?

For most countries, the economic slowdown in China and the accompanying slump in commodity prices represent something between nuisance and pothole.  For Russia, they are a catastrophe.

Russia’s currency and economy, already squeezed by Western sanctions, have been sent into virtual free fall by slumping oil prices. The IMF now puts Russia’s long-term potential growth at 1.5%. I personally think it’s just 1%, astonishing for a country whose standard of living is barely 40% that of the U.S.

Russia is indeed skating on thin ice: Cheap oil, Western sanctions and years of mismanagement have sent its economy into a deep freeze. Now everyone is wondering when the ice will crack.

Inflation has soared to 15%, the ruble is trading near record lows, consumer and business sentiment is on the slide, and its companies are shut out of financial markets in the US and Europe.

Abdelnour - Government Needs to Let Businesses Create Jobs

The U.S. government shouldn’t worry about creating jobs — but instead, it should generate an environment that encourages businesses to create jobs, says Ziad Abdelnour, author and CEO of Blackhawk Partners.

Leadership should focus more on cutting spending and avoid raising taxes and let millionaires hire and create more millionaires, Abdelnour tells Newsmax.TV in an exclusive video interview.

Focusing too much attention on blaming Wall Street fat cats and ignoring the Main Street entrepreneur won't help the U.S. economy.

Financial Policy Council Hosts Leading Crowdfunding Experts

Financial Policy Council will host a private briefing with a panel of four crowdfunding experts who will discuss how Wall Street investment firms can strengthen market share and viability through crowdfunding. The speakers Georgia P. Quinn, D.J. Paul, Chris Tyrell, and Joy Schoffler each have unique backgrounds in various industries, but share a common, extensive understanding of the financial technology sector and the effect that crowdfunding will bring to the investment world. Ziad Abelnour, the founder and chairman of Financial Policy Council Inc., will moderate the panel.

Once overlooked entirely by institutional investors, crowdfunding has now become a solid contender in the financial world, eclipsing angel investments and eventually overtaking venture capital as the primary method for funding new businesses.

How Greece's second bailout will affect the rest of the world

Greece will receive $171.9 billion from the European Union (EU), $17 billion from the International Monetary Fund and the rest from the European Central Bank.

In addition, Greece will exchange about $264 billion of its debt held by private creditors with new bonds with 53.5 percent less value.

After the penal interest Greece has paid on these bonds already, we still see an insolvent country paying bondholders 50pc of face value when they should be getting nothing.

So Greece gets €100bn written off, but borrows €130bn in order to achieve this, so it is still borrowing more making its overall debt not better but worse in absolute terms.

How to make money in the Obama age

These sections of “Economic Warfare” I found riveting – and motivation to implement Abdelnour’s suggestions. If we know the enemy, he can be defeated.

In Chapter 6 (“Battle Plans”), Ziad Abdelnour calls our world “increasingly dangerous, regulated and volatile” and then spells out his basic philosophy for wealth creation. It is a highly instructive section of the book.

You’ll find the detail actually enjoyable, I think, but here it is, boiled down: “I believe that the best way to make money this decade will be in commodities.”

I thoroughly believe that almost anyone can implement Abdelnour’s strategies. For example, if you think only the wealthy now can benefit from it, think again.

Best Business Reading Books for 2015

Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift or to catch up on your reading, there are plenty of blockbuster business books I strongly recommend for 2015.

I have collected my favorites of the year which I all read and are guaranteed to not only educate but entertain.

They are:

‘Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future’ by Peter Thiel

Billionaire Peter Thiel is as well known for being the cofounder of PayPal and first investor in Facebook as he is for being one of Silicon Valley’s prominent freethinkers. “Zero to One” is a concise, fluff-free treatise on the business philosophy he first taught in a Stanford University class, as collected by his former student Blake Masters.
