The Tech and Software Sector is Close to Eating the World ? | c

Being both an oil trader and financier and tech investor, I am frequently asked about my general views on the oil and tech sectors at large given the ever changing financial and political disturbances out there.
Well for a start, you might think that tech is today in a bubble as a company whose sole product is a photo sharing app in which the pictures get deleted after they are shared just turned down $3 billion.
Maybe...But the reality is that even if there is a bubble in the making there are really no consequences. Unlike the late 90s, technology is now established. If one company blows up, other entrepreneurs will start a new one or join someone else. So If you really think about it, the cost of failure has never been so low, ever.
By the same token, and for the sake of argument, I don't think that the tech and software sector is even close to eating the world.

Four Invaluable Aspects for Branding Yourself as a Leader

Of all the social media networks, business professionals have clearly opted for LinkedIn, arguably because it is the platform that has fulfilled their professional needs for networking. Three million CEOs on Jeff Weiner’s network have the opportunity to connect with about 500 Million other users, and in turn through those to billions of people around the world.

How can your LinkedIn presence show your Charisma? Whether you like it or not, your profile, posts and updates will reflect your success or otherwise.

Great leaders raise the flag of their brand high and lead their companies from the front. They build momentum with their name and recognition in their niche markets and pull the train of their company behind them. I want to help you to be one of those leaders.  With my help, I promise, you will surpass your peers and go well beyond...

To visualise this idea, think of well-known figures such as HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Richard Branson, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Ziad Abdelnour and Patrick Bet-David.

Ziad K Abdelnour: Republicans Think They’ll Outfox Trump?

As pundits and political prophets focus on deciphering the vagaries of “delegate math” leading into July’s Republican convention in Cleveland—how many delegates do you need, how do you secure them, how do you keep them—stories abound about how the party establishment is plotting to deny Donald Trump the nomination.

“Don’t think outside the box; think like there IS no box.” (Citing Blackhawk Partners CEO Ziad Abdelnour.) If it seems a deal is moving sideways because the prevailing winds of circumstance are not favorable, just create a new narrative, a new reality that now justifies the merits of the deal. Simply put, if Trump follows the GOP establishment’s convention roadmap, he’s very likely in political peril. Do the unexpected by drawing his own map, and Trump can quickly turn certain peril into political prosperity.

Ziad K Abdelnour: Republicans Think They’ll Outfox Trump?

If there’s one thing Trump knows better than just about anybody, it’s how to make a deal. It’s a skill that’ll come in handy in Cleveland.

As pundits and political prophets focus on deciphering the vagaries of “delegate math” leading into July’s Republican Convention in Cleveland—how many delegates do you need, how do you secure them, how do you keep them—stories abound about how the party establishment is plotting to deny Donald Trump the nomination.

The prevailing theory is that the grand poobahs of party discipline will pursue a three-step strategy. First, they’ll use Ted Cruz as their Trojan Horse to ensure Trump falls short of the 1,237 delegates needed on the first ballot. Then they’ll pivot to stop Cruz from emerging on the second and third ballots. And finally, they’ll implant their own choice as the consensus unifier—John Kasich or Marco Rubio or Scott Walker, now that Paul Ryan has demurred.

“Don’t think outside the box; think like there IS no box.” (citing Blackhawk Partners CEO Ziad Abdelnour) If it seems a deal is moving sideways because the prevailing winds of circumstance are not favorable, just create a new narrative, a new reality that now justifies the merits of the deal.

Simply put, if Trump follows the GOP establishment’s convention roadmap, he’s very likely in political peril. Do the unexpected by drawing his own map, and Trump can quickly turn certain peril into political prosperity.

Events around the world have an impact on Financial Policy, Investment Strategy

Events around the world have an impact on financial policy, investment strategy, trade and commerce, and each of these has an impact on the others. It is time to do another review of global events and their financial impact. This article contains both analysis and my own editorial opinion. It does not necessarily reflect the opinions of whoever publishes it.

One issue that has attracted a great deal of interest in news reports is the issue of internal and external security threats to Europe. Much of this has to do with the mass immigration of refugees from the tumult in the Middle East, and Islamist Jihadist extremists in their midst. However, in my opinion, the greatest threat at present is the deepening fragmentation within Europe of public opinion camps – and policymaking camps – over policies and policy-making of the European Union.

Hedge Fund Performance and Regulation

The hedge fund industry has taken quite a hit over the past year, leaving institutional investors fairly disappointed with ROI expectations. Preqin, the industry’s leading investment analytics company cited its 2015’s aggregate 2.02% return as the worst since 2011. Preqin further reported that 44% of fund managers reported failure to meet return objectives. The hedge fund industry is no lightweight; globally the industry accounts for over USD3 trillion assets under management. Poor hedge fund performance is a strong indicator of how unstable the overall financial system has become, even though the industry is not considered a market maker. Both large and boutique hedge funds that pursued single strategy objectives bore the brunt of poor performance.

Hedge funds that focused on equity, macroeconomic, managed futures and relative value strategies had the most fund closures for last quarter 2015. Funds with multi-strategy, event-driven strategies and credit strategies had the best overall performance, and a larger number of fund launches. On a positive note, the entire industry saw an increased transfer of capital flows from family offices and high-net-worth individuals in 2015. Evidently, private wealth investors have waning confidence in public capital markets

Evaluation of crude oil-Ziad Abdelnour

Having been in the physical trading of commodities on and off for over a decade now, I am stunned to see how many people – mostly brokers – who claim to trade oil derivatives know so very little if any about how crude oil prices are evaluated.
So for the sake of clarifying it all to everyone concerned, I thought of sharing this blog with all our readers in the hope they become more educated brokers and traders alike.
For all of those of you who still don’t know, there have been successive price regimes since the beginnings of the 20th Century.
1. Between 1930 and 1970, it was the so called “seven sisters pricing regime”, where the prices where controlled and posted by oil companies.
2. Then, until 1985, the prices were controlled by the producing countries, a period known as the OPEC pricing regime.
3. After a short period of netback pricing regime (crude oil price was tied to the price of refined products), the reference pricing regime was adopted. This is the system that we still use today.
In this system, only a very small proportion of crude oil is freely traded and serves as a benchmark, while the price of the crude oil which is not freely traded is tied by some formula to these benchmarks, hence the “reference” pricing regime.

Investors Can Boost Their Cybersecurity

Now that the Cyberworld is upon us, most of us do most, if not all, of our financial transactions online. Long gone is the day when most of us paid our bills by check or delivered a check to our brokers to invest for us. Now we pay our bills online, either on the biller’s Website, or on our bank’s Website. We don’t write checks – we transfer funds. We rely on the security of the Web site with which we are dealing to protect the security of the transaction. Most of us make sure that the “HTTPS” designation is at the beginning of the address for every Website on which we conduct transactions or share sensitive information. We maintain security and privacy settings on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social Websites where we publish.

Really? Surveys by security analysts show that most people, even tech-savvy people, use passwords they can remember easily, and seldom, if ever, change them.

Rags to riches billionaires - Ziad Abdelnour

It is a fact that out of a world population of 7.1 billion people on the planet and just over 300 Million in the U.S, there are 1,645 billionaires in the world today; 442 of which from the US (2014, Wikipedia) and about 2/3 or just under 1,100 of them self-made.
Now this means that unless you happen to fall into a rather sizable inheritance, all other things being equal you have a 0.00001549295% chance of becoming a billionaire. If you live in the U.S. your odds are 0.00014733333%, which is actually an order of magnitude better (now we’re getting somewhere).
Can never say never though …
Robert J. Pera, founder of Ubiquiti Networks and owner of the Memphis Grizzlies became a Billionaire in 6 years.  At 34 he was listed on the Forbes 10 youngest billionaire’s in the world. He has a B.S. in electrical engineering from UCSD and went to work for Apple.  He left Apple and with accumulated $30,000 in savings and credit cards to start his company Ubiquiti networks. He says ‘success is a matter of identifying opportunities and putting in clear and concise efforts in the right direction’.

Venture Capital and Private Equity activity in Latin America

Some Latin American economies might in fact be better prepared to recover from the crisis than several of the more developed economies and are, in principle, in better economic shape as a number of them have generated stabilization funds to support their respective economies.

While the growth of markets elsewhere in the world such as the Chinese economy has also contributed significantly to Latin America’s rise, a lot of those Western Hemisphere countries are resource-rich to start with, so they have enjoyed significant additional benefits from the economic development in China. We forecast this Latin American-Asian relationship to further strengthen as China’s demands for access to Latin America’s natural resources create an infrastructure in the region that will enable resources to flow back to China. Hence, don’t be surprised to see sooner than later billions of dollars invested in infrastructure for that purpose. For Latin America, this economic boom promises continued political and social stability.
